Fishy Parade adds Concert and Tall Tales
Livingston Manor, June 01, 2009

LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY Musicians, zany paraders, basset hounds and horses are all dressing up for the 6th Annual Trout Parade on Saturday June 13th. The festivities run from 11:00am-3:00pm. Music begins on Main Street at 12 noon with Brooklyn's own all-female world beat, jam band, Paprika, specializing in international dance music. Early birds will enjoy great music, prime parking and the best spots for parade viewing too. The Trout Parade steps off at 1:00pm sharp followed by an hour of fun in the park bordering Willowemoc Creek.

To get a close-up view of some of the extravagant floats, puppets, hounds and horses, the public is invited to join them in Renaissance Park (at the stoplight on Main Street) for Special Bicentennial Events immediately following the parade. Celebrating the Town of Rockland’s 200th birthday, there will be Johnny Darling Tall Tales, Fly-Casting with Mike Canazone, a special guest fly tyer, face painting, live music by the river, and lots of great parade food to keep everyone smiling! Local restaurants are even creating special dishes for the occasion.

The Catskill Puppet Theatre will be marching with their amazing puppet classics, from hummingbirds to a huge bear and tall exotic figures, and dozens of Basset hounds dressed as pirates will waddle down Main Street! Also adding their creative flair to the fin-tastic parade lineup, are three groups that recently garnered Creation Awards for their winning float and parading ideas: 4H of Sullivan County, the Livingston Manor Presbyterian Church and Fox Willow Farm. The funding is thanks to a Community Event Grant from the 2009 Sullivan County Bicentennial Committee. This is one of nearly 100 Bicentennial-Sealed events celebrating the County's 200th Birthday.

This Livingston Manor Chamber of Commerce-sponsored event raises funds to benefit the Livingston Manor Central School’s art and music programs through business and individual donations and the sale of parade t-shirts and collectible parade posters. Donation forms can be picked up at Hamish & Henry Booksellers, Morgan Outdoors, and at the Parade’s website.
