Fish fans, fin-heads, and lovers of fun are invited to join the Fourth Annual Trout Parade at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 9 at Main Street in Livingston Manor, NY. More than a stroll through town, The Trout Parade is an Art & Music happening -- a community-wide celebration of fun, friendship, and the noble Trout!
Every year, Main Street in Livingston Manor is a riot of color, costume, and sound – a sight that has to be seen to be believed, and hundreds come out to experience it! Others jump right in and swim along, since everyone is invited to join the fish-themed parade of floats, puppets, and costumed marchers.
This year, the public can join Bash The Trash, a performance group using instruments built from found objects. Bash the Trash performers demonstrate the science of sound (acoustics) with weird instruments such as the Bendjo, Singing Bowl, Strawmbone and the Balloon Flute – all recycled.
The Trout Parade has become a popular local tradition. Proceeds from the event benefit the art and music programs at Livingston Manor Central School, a fact which brings the parade’s themes of art and community full circle.
Expect the unexpected on Saturday, June 9 at The Trout Parade 2007!
Expressive groups and individuals who want to create artistic fish-themed floats for the parade or join Bash The Trash should contact Sue at Hamish & Henry Bookstore, 845.439.8029 or e-mail sue [at] hamishandhenry.com.
