Livingston Manor, May 31, 2005
The Second Annual Livingston Manor Trout Parade and Arts Festival
will take place on Saturday June 11th, rain or shine. Proceeds
from the event will benefit the music and arts programs at Livingston
Manor Central School.
Last year’s parade and festival brought an estimated 2,000
people to the streamside hamlet. Spectators were treated to colorful
costumes, marching bands, great food, and a lot of community spirit.
This year’s event promises to be even bigger, and the day’s
line up is varied and impressive:
Beginning at 10:00 AM, quilters, antiquers, artists, fly tyers
and craftspeople will crowd Renaissance Park with their wares.
Food vendors will begin setting up, and will offer Cuban sandwiches,
sausage and peppers, hot dogs, hamburgers, wraps, and smoked trout
sandwiches. There will also be baked goods, ice cream, cotton candy,
popcorn, and other festival favorites.
At 11:00 AM, DJ Paris will set the beat spinning in Peez Leweez’s
outdoor beer garden. Hungry spectators will likely use this time
to sample the various tastes and beverages while angling for a
great space to view the parade.
Late morning is also a great time to view the many class projects
that will be on display, highlighting our river systems and the
life of, what else, the trout.
12:00 Noon is line up for the marchers and vehicles at Livingston
Manor Central School. The Sturgeon General will place everyone
in preparation for step off.
1:00 PM is magic time. Keep an eye out for 20 foot long articulated
trout puppets, fish on unicycles, antique cars, floats, stilt walkers
and the Sullivan Seahorses, to name only a few of the attractions.
Enjoy the marching music of the Mountaintones, the Livingston Manor
School Band, and tunes from the Forestburgh Playhouse players.
Barry Foster will be on the mike keeping everyone up to speed.
Sometime after 2:00 PM, everyone is invited into Renaissance Park,
just off Main Street, where folks will enjoy live music from the
Renaissance stage, including the Forestburgh Playhouse Players.
At 2:30, prizes for best costumes and floats will be given out
by the Sturgeon General and friends. From 3 PM – 5 PM, more
music from the LMCS chorus, The Mountaintones, and acoustic guitarist
Jim Stickler will keep spirits high. Revelers will also be perusing
the many arts, antiques and craftspeople set up in the park and
under the Trout Tent.
And of course, this piscatorial procession is topped off with the
premier of CinePark’s all free, outdoor movie season. At
dusk, folks will enjoy Tim Burton’s heartwarming film, “Big
Fish”.
It’s not too late to join the fun, either as an artist, a
marcher, a float, or a group. To get in on the hilarity, call Gerard
Ilaria at 845-665-6490. To download entry forms, and see highlights
